WTF is this Blog

Alright finally taking some time to explain wtf it is I'm going to be doing here. Consider this a mission statement or something similar.

Major Goals
  1. Game Dev
  2. Game Dev Tutorials
I currently have 3 projects being worked on HERE. I'm aiming for weekly updates to the Twine version of Outbreak, periodic generic asset updates to the UE4 version of Outbreak, and possibly weekly to bi-weekly updates for the Rush Tactics game (though this will likely be a bit slower since I intend to do tutorials on most of what I cover in it!).

Before you ask "Wtf do you mean by generic asset updates for the UE4 version?", this means (at least for me lol) that I will ONLY be doing some basic modeling/material setups for objects/things that do NOT require anything in regards to concept art. Expect things like base body meshes, plants/trees, rocks, and other simple/basic stuff. I want to have concept art ready before I move forward, sorry if this bothers anyone!

Now moving onto the last bit I mentioned, I intend to do a tutorial series on most of Rush's development. Goal here is to simply help get more people into game design with a simple/easy to understand walk through for my game designed fully in UE4's Blueprint. I will also do a few tutorials on some older work I did in UE4 that I put off because I was trying to give them an upgrade (which will come soon, but I want to give those people who followed it a chance to look at the older attempts and maybe build off it in their own ways). Also depending how the Twine goes, I may do a few tutorials on that as well.

Secondary Goals
  1. Game Reviews
  2. Comics
This stuff is very much in afterthought territory. When I need a break from the above, I'll work on these instead. Review wise I intend to use a simple Yay, Nay, or Rental in place of conventional scores. This will be accompanied by a Technical Score which is comprised of a simple 1-10 scale. Each bug/glitch/connection issue the game features will deduct from that score. Reason for this is that I've seen fantastic games out there that just would not work at all (no matter how hard you prayed to the High Lord Gaben). Yeah it may have a great story or awesome gameplay, but if it runs like a turd..I think people deserve to know lol.

Onto Comics, this one is tough for me. I have LOTS of ideas already written down, but I can't for the life of me, come up with a decent art style to use. I'm INCREDIBLY picky about this atm, but if I do manage to decide, expect a weekly comic until I run out of my stockpile.

And now it's time for something completely different...
This one is for you PC zealot guys/gals who have gone above and beyond to attack the sh!t outta me via email:

I'm done. I honestly don't care anymore. I tried being nice and responding to those who didn't outright tell me to kill myself or threaten to wait outside my home and shoot me. Those of you (yes all 3 of you!) who responded politely to my replies, I only hope you choose not to resort to such sh!tty tactics in the future. Regardless of what I believe, no one has any right use such extreme choices like death threats. It's lame. Moving onto the more legitly violent/repeat offenders (all 136 of you!).

I don't care if you don't like the Outbreak game. I don't believe (and most research agrees) that games contribute directly to real life crimes be they violent or sexual in nature. This game is simply a fetish game for men AND women who happen to enjoy a lil' role play and TF themes in their games. God help us some people are into different things...Oh and for the last time: I do not support or condone rape or sexual assault in real life. THIS IS JUST A F?!#ING VIDEO GAME.

Now on the final topic of the death threats: I will no longer bring these up, I will no longer be replying to violent emails, and I will be simply blocking/deleting any future threats. I'm done wasting my time and stressing out over this.

Though in honor of the 600+ emails, I'm thinking of doing a PC UNfriendly event where everyone just uses the most offensive language possible in a single comment chain here.  Maybe make it a once a month celebration of free speech? ;)
